IPPLEPEN bounced back from their defeat by Cullompton by inflicting the first loss of the season on promotion rivals Budleigh Salterton in B Division West.

At that same level, Chudleigh remain winless four games into the campaign, following a five-wicket defeat by Clyst St George.

Bovey Tracey’s 2nd XI captain Dan Green can take some consolation from the performance of his side’s youngsters in a 59-run defeat away to promotion-hunters Cullompton.

Lastly in the B League, Teignmouth & Shaldon were on the receiving end of a first-class batting lesson during a 157-run defeat at Barton.

Cornwood 2nd XI knocked Ashburton off the top of the C West table by inflicting a 14-run defeat on them around the showers.

Elsewhere, South Devon rediscovered their winning touch with a one-run win over Brixham in a true nail-biter.

SDCC, still smarting from a defeat at Kingsbridge, were all out for 138 in the last of their 45 overs – and were glad of veteran duo Richard Beaumont and Jonny Martin for getting that many on the board.

At the end of the game, with two runs needed for a Brixham win, Dan Duke trapped Brad McKee lbw to win it for the home side.

Chris Needham and Steve Bowden were Ipplepen 2nd XI’s main run-makers in a four-wicket win over Kenn in the D Division West.

Meanwhile, Abbotskerswell 2nd XI were the latest team to fall by the wayside to the unbeaten league leaders, Babbacombe.
