NEWTON Abbot bowls duo Shaun Grice and Will Stevens lost out to Shaldon pair Lee Haywood and James Webber in a high-quality Section 5 Final of the Men’s Major Pairs Championship.

Results were contrasting for a trio of the men’s teams. The A-Team won 12-2 against King, sending them to the top of the table with five wins from six games.

Meanwhile, the B’s struggles continue but their matches are always close, which is reason for positivity, and also, the C-Team lost 81-66 against Torbay Country Club D.

The Ladies enjoyed a great couple of days in the SDL, beating Brixham Furzeham 9-1 on home soil before then overcoming Abbrook Park the following day. As a result, they advance to the next stage and will play the winner of Bovey Tracey and Dawlish Marina.

Lastly, Ken Howard, Dave Pickett and Phil Underhill represented the club when playing for Devon Men against Gloucestershire at Culm Vale.
