KINGSTEIGNTON Bowls Club ladies have now finished their Division 4 campaign and ended up mid-table.

They won all their home matches this season and were much closer to the top teams, points-wise, than the bottom clubs.

Meanwhile, on August 21, the X Division Over 55s entertained Abbrook Park on their all-weather surface, edging the victory by a single point, 41-40 (6-2 league points).

John Saunders 21-24 G Walling; Ian Westaway 20-16 P Ritson.

KBC captain John said it was a close game on both rinks and the final result could have gone either way. Abbrook pulled away slightly near the end of John’s rink, they have some decent bowlers and always give Kingsteignton a hard match.

Now to the Y Division, who faced the same opposition on the same day on the same surface and won 34-30 (6-2 league points).

Bill Beech 18-13 W Wale and Martin Redfern 16-17 P Lannon.

KBC skipper Bill said that this was a very good result against a very good team. Even on home turf, you have to play well against teams like Abbrook & Marina as they will punish poor efforts.

Bill had a win on his rink whilst Martin’s rink were very unlucky to lose.

Well done to both Abbrook teams for a great match and, as always, they were very friendly opponents.

Congratulations go to the victorious KBC players and thanks as always to the tea ladies Ellie & Lizzy.
