BUCKFASTLEIGH Bowls Club opened on April 19 for the new season ahead.
The club was formed after land was gifted by the Hamlyn family in 1921, for recreational purposes. It has recently become a charity to enable the local community to continue to be able to participate in sport.
It is a friendly club with a clubhouse, licensed bar, changing rooms, meeting, toilet facilities, parking and disabled access. Prospective members are always welcome to come and give bowls a try- practice is on Monday evenings from 6pm and Friday afternoons from 2pm.
Over the winter, the green has been extensively renovated. Members are looking forward to playing on it and welcoming other bowling teams.
Buckfastleigh will be taking part in four ‘sections’ of fixtures: Over 55’s, Riviera Mixed Triples League (RMTL), Ladies Triple Challenge (LTC) and Friendlies.
The committee would like to thank all sponsors for their continued support.
