BOVEY Tracey Bowls Club enjoyed another busy week of action, starting with a ladies’ triples friendly at Abbrook Park.

Bovey recorded some impressive scores, winning on all three rinks by an aggregate of 78 shots to 23. J Ellis, K Callard, S Breame 21-9; L Cridge, Y Stanford, S Johnson 32-6; S Davies, M Bolt, H Call 21-8.

Bovey men fared less well in the Foxlands competition, being well beaten home and away by Marina, Dawlish. Home; K Breame, M Webber, R Bailey, D Saunders 13-25; Away; K Lockett, S Callard, C Shorland, P Joy 13-41.

A home Mid Devon League match against Chudleigh provided an exciting finish. With three rinks finished and Bovey leading by five shots, Chudleigh scored five shots on the final end of the last game to force a drawn match. At Kingsteignton, in the men’s Over 55s competition, the rinks were shared one apiece with the overall score resulting in a win for Bovey. K Lockett, C Shorland, P Joy 24-6; P Cridge, S Callard, K Breame 11-20. League points, Kingsteignton 2 - Bovey Tracey 6.

A trip to Plymstock provided another good performance for the Bovey team. The match format was two rinks and two triples with Bovey winning all four games by a total of 69 shots to 45. R Wills, P Cridge, K Callard, S Breame 23-14; R Young, G Malville, J Farley, H Call 15-14; C Young, M Bolt, S Callard 17-6; L Cridge, A Chew, K Breame 14-11.

Meanwhile, Bovey welcomed Buckfastleigh for a mixed triples friendly with the away team winning by two games to one with the fourth drawn. Total shots, Bovey 55 - Buckfastleigh 60. Away from the teams, Bovey players achieved some excellent results in county competitions. In the County Minor Mixed Pairs, Roger and Deborah Bailey won 19-17 at Bitton Park and in the County Mixed Triples, Roger, Deborah and Deb Simpson won narrowly by 21-20 at Abbrook Park. Well done to them.
