BOTH the X and Y teams were at home this week in the Over 55 League for Kingsteignton Bowls Club and there were contrasting fortunes for the teams.

The Y team were up against Chudleigh and triumphed on both rinks with an aggregate score of 46-24, although the manner of each win varied. In Martin Redern’s rink, they went flying out of the blocks and then let up slightly for a 25-11 victory, whilst Paul Sellick’s rink started slow and was able to then turn it on after tea to win 21-13.

Meanwhile, the X team experienced a win and a loss in their clash with Bovey Tracey, losing 26-35 overall.

Ian Westaway’s rink started steadily enough and a strong conclusion allowed them to prevail 20-11. The same can’t be said for John Saunders and co though, a 24-6 hammering leading to the team defeat.
