THE ladies of Bitton Park Bowling Club have had a busy and very successful summer season.
Carol Scutt, Jean Pitts and Dawn Konetsky were runners-up in the Bowls Devon County Championship Triples.
Angela Bucknall, Janet, Ellie Libby and Dawn Konetsky were also runners-up, this time in the Bowls Devon County Championship Fours.
Julie Hill won the Section 5 Unbadged Singles. Whilst Janet Williamson and Maria Owalsky came out on top in the Section 5 Unbadged Pairs.
Despite having to make 19 substitutions because of various surgeries, the ladies’ first team succeeded in remaining in the top division which is quite the feat. With three matches remaining, it seemed certain that they would be relegated, however, 27 points were picked up for those three games, which kept them in the division by just one point.
Meanwhile, the ladies’ second team were promoted for the second successive year, having won their division.
Now for the various club competitions, starting with the Ladies’ Championship which was won by Sue Thompson. Maria Owalsky prevailed in the Ladies Handicap and the Ladies 2-Wood went the way of Moira Webber.
There were a pair of victories for Julie Hill- winning the Ladies Pairs alongside Dawn Konetsky and then getting her hands on the Rose Bowl too.
Finally, the ladies' secretary, Ellie Libby, was presented with her county badge at Torquay Bowling Club by the County President Sandra Andrews.
Congratulations to everyone- to the winners and to everyone else who took part and fought hard.
