TOWNS in Teignbridge marked Merchant Navy Day to remember the contribution and sacrifices made by members of the service.
Teignmouth Town Council and Dawlish Town Council both held events attended by civic leaders, service representatives and the town criers.
In Teignmouth, Mayor Cate Williams and town crier Patrick Brophy led the commemorations and a flag was raised in the Triangle.
A town council spokesman said: ‘We reflected on the significant contributions and sacrifices of the Merchant Navy with dignity and respect.
‘As we continue to honour the legacy of the Merchant Navy, we are reminded of the enduring strength and resilience of those who have served.’
In Dawlish, deputy mayor Cllr Anthony James and town crier Bob Graham led the event and a flag was raised at the Piazza.
