TWO Teignbridge beaches have been hit with a sewage alert following unsettled weather over the weekend.
Dawlish Town and Teignmouth Holcombe beaches were identified by campaign group, Surfers Against Sewage (SAS), as sewage discharge locations.
The alert came into affect today, Monday, September 9.
This comes after an alert last week, on Friday, September 6.
SAS’ interactive map tracks sewage discharge in real-time.
Sewage discharge is common after heavy rainfall, as storm overflows are used to prevent drains being overwhelmed; in such circumstances, sewage leaks into the sea.
