This former toll house from the 1800s has glorious river views and has been used as a holiday let - and now it is up for sale.

Built in the early 19th century, the Grade II listed toll house sits on Shaldon Bridge with views over the Teign Estuary.

Shaldon Bridge, built in 1827, was constructed as an alternative to crossing the river by ferry or taking a 12 mile detour, and the toll house was established in the 1830s, with a gate at the Teignmouth end of the bridge to prevent people from crossing without paying.

The main front entrance leads into a tiled hallway with two front aspect windows, following on to an open plan sitting/dining room which has timber flooring and views across the river.

Also on the ground floor is a bathroom and a kitchen, which includes a breakfast area, while upstairs there are two bedrooms.
