A SHOPLIFTER has had his Easter escapades thwarted by local police.

‘A dedicated patrol officer worked long hours tirelessly dealing with a prolific shoplifter in Newton Abbot, some might even call this officer egg-cellent!!’ a spokesperson for Newton Abbot Police said.

The suspect has been charged with seven separate shopliftings and been remanded in police custody.

‘There'll be no more fowl-play on Easter Sunday from this person!’ the spokesperson added.

Due to the bank holiday, he will appear at court on Tuesday, April 2.
