POLICE in Teignmouth and Dawlish have released details of what they described as a ‘busy’ weekend.

Friday last week saw officers in Dawlish investigating reports of anti-social behaviour in the town.

The team spoke to various members of the community and said they passed on some ‘much-needed words of advice’ on what is considered to be ‘appropriate behaviour’.

In Teignmouth on Saturday, officers in plain clothes stopped a man who had been carrying a significant amount of cash and drugs on him.

He is assisting officers with their enquiries.

On Sunday, the team were alerted to two young men in the town who were causing problems and had been seen to shoplift.

The pair were tracked down but they resisted arrest which led to one officer being assaulted.

A police spokesman said: ‘These men have been causing significant anti-social behaviour and criminal issues in Teignmouth and robust steps are being taken to deal with their behaviour.

'We can’t do the work we do without your help so please keep letting us know what is happening in your communities.’
