GUM BUSTERS are in action in Dawlish, clearing pavements of the sticky stuff.
The team are spending several days clearing the main town centre streets.
It’s the latest move in the Teignbridge-wide project funded by the Chewing Gum Task Force which has provided £18,000 to help Teignbridge Council to clear chewing gum from pavements and reduce gum littering.
The equipment has already been used in Newton Abbot.
Teignbridge Council was one of 54 authorities which successfully applied for funding from the task force and received £18,297.
Established by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and run by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, the Chewing Gum Task Force Grant Scheme allows councils to clean up gum and invest in long-term behaviour change to prevent gum from being dropped in the first place.
