A MAN who stole perfume and other toiletries in Newton Abbot has been jailed.
Tom Richard Davis, aged 29, of Risdon Avenue, Plymouth, admitted stealing five bottles of perfume worth £176 from Boots in Newton Abbot.
He was sent to prison for two weeks to run consecutively with other sentences.
South and West Devon Magistrates' Court said: ‘Offence so serious because the offence was aggravated by being committed whilst subject to a community sentence, because the defendant has a flagrant disregard for people and their property.’
He was sentenced to two weeks in prison, to run concurrently, after admitted he stole a spa gift set, lipstick and make-up box from Newton Abbot’s Superdrug store.
Davis faced further charges.
He was jailed for 10 weeks, to run consecutively, on a charge of harassment by repeatedly visiting the home of a woman in Totnes and making a large number of phone calls.
No separate penalty was imposed after he admitted damaging a police van but he must pay £98 in compensation.
He received a further two weeks in jail, to run consecutively, after he admitted stealing cheese, meat and alcohol from Morrisons in Totnes. He received another two weeks in jail for a further shoplifting charge in the same store for goods worth £248.
He received a further eight week sentence, to run consecutively, for contacting the woman and entered her house in Totnes when he was banned by a non-molestation court order.
