MUSE mania and Olympic fever combined to produce another big day to remember for Teignmouth.

Well over 5,000 people packed Shaldon Bridge to see the Olympic Torch cross the Teign, and there was added excitement when the resort's famous rock trio carried it into their home town on Sunday.

Agreement for Matt Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme and Dom Howard to become involved in the relay was only finalised at the last minute, but word soon spread around Teignmouth that they were coming.

The Muse factor undoubtedly swelled the crowds on the bridge – the biggest yet seen – and they were greeted with huge enthusiasm as they jogged along clad in white, taking it in turns to hold the golden torch aloft.
