A KEY junction on a road leading in and out of Newton Abbot will close in June through July.

The junction where Wolborough Street meets Totnes Road will be closed from Monday, June 17.

This is to allow for the main gas pipe to be replaced.

It is anticipated the work will be completed by Friday, July 7, but this is not definite.

‘Well, that's just marvellous’ said one resident.

‘Seriously? Why can’t they do it in the school holidays?’ said another.

‘This has the potential to be a nightmare!’ another added.

The Traffic Restriction Order (TRO) will temporarily prohibit through traffic and parking along the section of Wolborough Street while the work is carried out.

An alternative, sign-posted route for vehicles will be put in place.

The alternative route will be: Wolborough Street, Totnes Road, Newton Road, Bridgetown Hill, South Devon Highway, Torquay Road and vice versa.
