MORETONHAMPSTEAD Community Shed, which has been searching for suitable premises since it was formed last year, has launched a crowdfunding appeal to raise £5,000 to help pay for the lease, repair and fitting out of the disused garage at the BT exchange in the town.

The workshop will serve as a library of tools, a place to take part in courses and to meet and chat with friends.

‘Men in Sheds’ is an international network of community based workshops aimed at improving mental health, for men in particular.

The workshop will be open to all members of the community of any age, but certain days and times will be set aside to provide a workshop space exclusively for men to meet.

It will act as a base for all members of the community to learn new skills and share knowledge - these could include carpentry and metal work, for example.
