Kingskerswell hopes its Sea Shanty Festival on Saturday February 1 will not only raise the roof, but also much needed funds for community projects.

Five Sea Shanty bands will take part in the event at Kingskerswell Village Hall: The Out of Tunas; Midsummer Gurnards; The Wrecked Again Crew; All Hands on Deck; and The Harbour Bouys.

Fancy dress is encouraged for all attending with prizes available for the best dressed sailor or pirate.

The last Kingskerswell Sea Shanty Festival was the most popular event Kingskerswell Action Group has put on, said organiser Roger Jones.

Kingskerswell Action Group organises community events, looks after the village and keeps it tidy, provides all the floral displays, and donates money to other voluntary groups.
