ADVENTURE with Horses has received £3,750 of matched funding from the bank of Santander.
The Holne-based social enterprise helps young people who are disadvantaged or have special educational needs build confidence and develop new skills by being around their horses.
Their children and young people programmes deliver group and one-to-one sessions to help young people aged between nine and 25 build self-awareness, calmness and confidence through ‘equine experiential learning’.
Sue Blagburn, director at Adventure with Horses, said: ‘Through the Santander Changemaker Fund we’re able to expand our programmes to help more young children grow and develop.
‘Connecting and working with horses enables those who have special educational needs a chance to enjoy a learning environment away from constraint, and we are looking forward to expanding our services.’
Sue Douthwaite, of Santander, added: ‘We are thrilled to support Adventure with Horses as they look to grow and reach more people. It is an innovative approach to helping young people who are disadvantaged and we look forward to seeing how the programme progresses.’
