COURTENAY Street in Newton Abbot will be the go-to venue for free family fun for Easter.
The Easter-themed events on Saturday March 30 between 10am and 2pm will include crafts with Creative Newton Abbot, balloon modelling, face painting, live music from the Hot House Combo and Easter egg giveaways.
St Leonard’s Tower will be open to the public and among the shopping crowds will be pop-up appearances by larger-than-life walkabout characters.
‘Easter is coming early this year and so is our first free family event of the season,’ said Natalie Hicks, events co-ordinator at Newton Abbot Town Council.
‘We love arranging these activities as we know how popular they can be and how appreciative people are that there’s something fun to do that won’t cost them a penny.
‘Our town centre remains the rival of many others in the region, as we saw when Austins Department Store celebrated its centenary and people were queuing round the block to take part. The TV and press coverage that followed was fantastic.
‘The town council is proud to play its part in keeping Newton Abbot a great place for locals and visitors alike, our fantastic museum being another example and that’s also free and open until 1.30pm on Saturdays.
‘What’s not to love about Easter in Newton Abbot.’
Other forthcoming events in the town, include the May 25 Classic Car Show and July’s Celebrations in Courtenay Park.
Outdoor events are subject to weather conditions and subject to possible last-minute change or cancellation.
