NEARLY 50 officers serving Devon and Cornwall Police resigned last year, a Freedom of Information (FOI) request has shown.

In 2024, 48 police officers and 101 police staff resigned voluntarily, the FOI shows.

Officers with a length of service of between two and five years saw the highest number of resignations at 25.

The above length of service of between two and five years also saw the highest number of resignations among police staff.

Elsewhere, the number of new recruits that joined Devon and Cornwall Police last year was the lowest in the last five years, another FOI request shows.

The total number of police officers recruited in 2024 was 214, down from 365 the year prior and 449 the year before that, the FOI shows.
