DAwlish Bowling Club was busier than usual at the weekend, and it wasn’t solely down to the fine weather.
The club held a charity tournament for the Stuart Mayne Plate, named to commemorate a past player at the club on The Lawn.
Treasurer Noel Nickless explained: ‘The day was held to raise money for Rowcroft Hospice. We’re still counting the money as it’s still coming in.’
Sixteen teams of four from local pubs took part and Noel reckoned more than 200 supporters came along to watch during the event.
If you have never tried the game of bowls, there’s a chance this Saturday, May 28, when the club holds one of its regular open days.
Would-be members are welcome from 10am to 5pm.
