Demolition of the former aquarium on Teignmouth seafront has been completed after five weeks, paving the way for new toilets to be built on the site later this year.
However, construction work to build the new toilet block will not take place until after peak summer season to avoid disruption to residents and visitors.
‘This phased approach ensures the new facilities will be ready for use without interfering with the bustling summer months,’ a spokesperson from Teignmouth Town Council explained. ‘These efforts reflect Teignmouth Town Council’s ongoing commitment to improving public spaces and amenities and are part of a broader initiative to ensure Teignmouth remains a welcoming and well-equipped destination.’ The spokesperson added.
The new toilets will replace the temporary toilet block on the Den that was installed 18 months ago after the previous permanent facilities were incorporated into the restaurant that replaced the former Beachcomber.
