There were fine 9-1 wins for the top two teams in Division One, both over opponents fighting for survival near the foot of the table, writes Tony Halse.

Leaders Denbury Imports saw off Brixham Gulls, while second-placed NA Batmen defeated Halwell.

Rory Harries and Yan Tushingham gained maximums for the Denbury side, with Mick Mercer’s victory over Giles Tushingham earning the Gulls a point.

Nick Halse and Dennis Gibbs were unbeaten for the Batmen, while Halwell’s Dave Wadling’s win over Shaun Gibbs bagged a point for Halwell.

In the all-Torbay Academy clash, the second team, with Javier Garcia unbeaten on his league debut, defeated the first team 7-3.
