ELEVEN Haldon Trail Runners competed in races at the weekend with three of them winning their age categories.

On Saturday 11, Val Blacklock did the Skechers Performance 10k in Dubai and not only got a PB of 51.06, but also won her 40-49 age category, finishing 36th overall.

Simon Bunday, meanwhile, did the Endurancelife 10k in Polzeath, which started and finished on the beach. The route took runners around Pentire Point and along the coast path towards Port Isaac before turning inland for the last 2.5 miles. Simon finished 29th overall and second MV65 in 1:11.48.

On Sunday 12, Cat Matthews did the Haldon half marathon and won the FV40 age category in 2:30.36, coming home 17th overall.

The club also had eight runners in the 13-mile Oh My Obelisk race, which started and finished at Dawlish Leisure Centre and took runners through fields, tracks and lanes to Mamhead Obelisk and back.

Charlie Brown came home in 24th place in a time of 1:47.51, with Chris King 32nd in 1:51.32, Will Evans 34th in 1:52.51 and Anthea Board 43rd overall and first FV60 in 1:57.44. Jonathan Armes was 49th in 1:59.31, Mai Warren 53rd in 2:01.04, Alice Stuckey 61st in 2:03.25 and Adam Yarde 68th in 2:06.28.
