NEW Cross stepped on the gas in the second half to run out 36-10 winners over visiting Tiverton.

There was very little in it at half time – New Cros only led 5-3 – but as the game wore on Tiverton faded.

Louie Griffiths claimed two tries for New Cross with Ollie Robinson, Luke Williams and Rob Pedrick contributing one each. Griffiths and Lewis Short (2) kicked the goals.

New Cross make the short trip to Exeter Engineers this Saturday. Victory will take them a step closer to the runners-up slot behind champs-elect Crediton Quins with North Tawton close behind them.

The Tawts and Crediton have both played 17 games to New Cross’ 18, making a title win unlikely but not impossible.

That being said, New Cross’ season concludes on April 5 with a home game against who else but Crediton. That’ll be one not to miss.

Changing lanes now to the Mid-Devon Darts League and after the latest round of fixtures, Golden Lion “lads” continue to lead the A-League with their very impressive record of 12 wins from 13, amassing 72 points. British Legion (NA) and Sharpy’s Bar A are their closest challengers on 65 points apiece but they’ve played one and two more games respectively.

B-League looks weirdly similar with first place also seven points ahead of both second and third. Ship (Chud) “Outsiders are the team to beat whilst Locomotive Inn and Golden Lion “Grahams” look to keep the pressure on, all three teams having played 16 games to date.

Ipplepen Con Club “Originals” lead C-League, Chudleigh Con Club “lads” lead D-League and Saracens Assegais lead E-League.

Meanwhile, Chudleigh Con Club “ Globals” and British Legion “ladies” are locked at 146 points each at the NA&DLDL summit. British Legion’s game in hand is the only difference maker.
