Four Maverick Runners represented the club at the annual Paris Marathon on Sunday.
Due to the warm conditions, the runners found the going particularly tough, although two of them managed personal best times.
Dominic Spayne bettered his previous marathon distance time by a whopping 21 minutes, with his wife Lorna knocking two minutes off her previous best.
Another Maverick Runners’ husband and wife duo, Matt and Rachel Steele also entered the race together.
In Matt’s first marathon, he did himself proud by finishing in a time of three hours 25 minutes.
Maverick times at Paris: Dominic Spayne 3.18.23, Lorna Spayne 3.23.9, Matt Steele 3.2.0 and Rachel Steele 4.05.16.
Closer to home, seven Mavericks took part in the Taunton Half Marathon, starting and finishing at the Somerset College.
The course takes the runners on an undulating loop through Taunton town centre and out to Norton Fitzwarren, before taking country roads through Bradford-on-Tone, and returning to Taunton via the A38.
Daryl Milford led the Mavericks home in a time of 1.20.19 for 16th place overall and securing the 1st MV40 award.
Next Maverick home was Neil Castree, who knocked five minutes off his previous half marathon best in 1.34.58. He was followed by Simon Sherlock in 1.44.29, Paul Finnimore in 1.48.07, Claire McKenna in 1.48.36, Roger Brewer in 2.01.08 and, making his Maverick debut, Richard Elliott in 2.01.56.
