BOVEY Tracey bounced back from their defeat at Plympton with a five-wicket win over Paignton that hoisted them up to second in the Premier Division table.
Opener Harry Ward top scored for Paignton with 67 in their all-out total of 157. The rest of the top order struggled for runs against Alex Bevilaqua (2-27), Seb Ansley (2-35) and Chris Yabsley (2-38) in a running total of 90 for six.
Among the casualties was Paignton’s South African run machine Divvy Saxena, who came and went for five,
Ward, who batted on and on for 114 balls, finally found a partner with some stickability in Rory Medlock, who made 26 in a stand of 43 for the seventh wicket.
Ward was eighth out to Toby Codd, who ran through the stragglers for a three-for-22 haul at the end.
Bovey’s innings shared some parallels with Paignton’s as they lost wickets at one end while a solid opener stayed put at the other.
Ed Foreman (45) got Bovey up to 94 for four then handed to batton to Bevilaqua, who was out for exactly 50 with 14 runs still required. Ash Causey (23no) and Sam Harvey (12no) tied up the loose ends.
