IT WAS another good weekend for the Mid Devon Youth Academy cyclists as they took part in the first round of the National Series at Pembury, Wales, writes Rob Woodger.
There were great results returned by all of the Mid Devon Youth Academy riders across the age groups. Young Lauren Fox is continuing to enjoy now being able to race at this level in her first year as an under 14. She claimed a third-place finish on general classification.
The Youth Academy’s results over the weekend were as follows:
Stage 1: Lauren finished fourth with a time of 2:40, Matt H came home 24th in 2:37, George S. was 39th in 2:48, Dexter finished 17th in 2:18, Edward was 24th in 2:20, Jacob finished 55th in 2:30 and Meryn was 64th in 2:34.
Stage 2: Lauren was seventh (dropped one place due to bounce seconds) and fifth in the general classification (GC), Matt was 17th and 24th in GC, George finished 43rd and 42nd in GC, Dexter came 43rd and 19th in GC, Edward was sixth and 23rd in GC, Jacob was 50th and 49th in GC and Meryn was 62nd in both.
Stage 3: Lauren finished 13th and third GC after coming second and gaining two seconds in the intermediate sprint, Matt came 18th and 22nd GC, George was 42nd and 43rd GC, Dexter 30th and 18th GC, Edward eighth and 21st GC, Jacob 26th and 35th GC and Meryn 54th and 56th GC.
