Riviera Division 1

Exeter & Culm Vale Hornets Men's 2nd XI. 1

Ashmoor Men's 2nd XI. 5

ASHMOOR Men's 2nd team delivered a comprehensive 5-1 victory away to the Hornets in Cullompton, showcasing their attacking prowess and defensive solidity. The match was a perfect blend of clinical finishing, tactical control, and individual brilliance, particularly from midfield dynamo Ollie Brown.

Dan Cowdry combined with Dan Green and the latter fired home for an early statement of intent from Ashmoor.

Cathan Wherry surprised everyone with an ambitious, lung-busting run from his own half, getting on the end of a 1-2 with Green to deflect a second home for the visitors.

As a loose ball fell kindly for Matt Pearce, he used his reverse stick to expertly guide the ball past the keeper with a composed shot, making it 3-0 to Ashmoor.

Just before the break, Hornets managed to claw one back against the run of play, capitalising on a brief lapse in concentration. This produced a brief wave of nervousness only for goalkeeper James Bromfield to produce two outstanding saves and settle things down.

Seth Turner slid a clever pass through to Cowdry who finished off the fourth in typically, clinical fashion before Green completed his brace with power, Cowdry turning into the creator this time around.

Youngster Ollie Brown was Ashmoor's Player of the Match for his commanding midfield performance.

Next up for the league leaders is a home clash with Torbay Men’s 2nd team, meanwhile the 3rd team will hope to field a team against Teign 1st XI and the Ashmoor 4th team Development side host West Dorset 2nd team.

Elsewhere, Ashmoor Women’s 1st XI beat Plymouth Lions 4th XI 5-0 thanks to goals from Tilly McEwen (2), Sophie Blee, Laura Colwill and also Player of the Match Sophie Walker.

This Saturday, they have a top-of-the-table clash against Dart in a morning start.
