Peter Rowe and Simon Bunday were two of the five Haldon Trail Runners in action this weekend and they were competing on 'home' territory, taking on the first Haldon half marathon on Sunday in searing temperatures. That made the going even tougher for those taking part on what Simon described as a brutal course over three laps. There was more than 2,300 feet of elevation in total and the hill used in the club's Forest Flyer race featured on each lap.
Peter finished 13th overall and first male over-50 in 2:18.40, and Simon was 23rd in 2:34.29.
The club's newest member, Holly Manigan, took part in the Ivybridge 10k on Saturday evening just a couple of days after joining. She finished 342nd in 1:01.32, with husband Jon Harvey crossing the line in 185th place in a time of 52.00.
Meanwhile, in Cyprus, Jonathan Armes did a hilly trail 5k, which he said actually measured 3.3 miles - and was 27th in 27.15.
