The seniors at Dainton Park held their annual meeting.

Chairing it was the out-going captain Pete Northcott who, during the meeting, handed over the reins to the 2018 captain Phil Wiltshire.

Unfortunately, due to the weather and course conditions, Wiltshire had to postpone his ceremonial drive-in to a later date.

Northcott summarised his year in office, saying he took particular satisfaction in the support he had received in all the fundraising efforts for his two nominated charities – the Special Care Baby Unit at Torbay Hospital and the Renal Unit at Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital.

He welcomed Dr Alison Janzen, clinical director of paediatrics at Torbay Hospital, and Heather Atkins, live donor transplant specialist nurse, who had come along to receive cheques from both the senior captain’s charities and the main club captain’s charities on behalf of the two hospital units.

Both ladies gave a short talk about the work that their hospital units do and how the funds donated might be used.

Dainton’s 2017 captain Graham Hull joined Northcott to present the ladies with cheques of £1,340 each from the seniors’ section, and £1,910 from the main club – a total of £3,250 for each charity.
