It was hot weather and hot competition when Teign Valley Ladies played in their prestigious Club Championship, which consisted of 36 holes – two rounds of golf – played on the same day.
The 18-hole Lady Veterans’ Club Championship was held on the same day.
The prolonged dry weather made for interesting conditions with extra carry, lots of bounce and fast greens requiring a high degree of accuracy. As always there were those who had stamina and rose to the challenge, returning some excellent scores.
Teign Valley Ladies’ Club Championship winner in both the scratch and the handicap competitions was Maggie Thomson with two excellent rounds – round one was a nett 68 and round two was 72 (combined score 140).
She was closely followed by Kim Hurley second place with nett 69 and 72 (combined score 141), and third was Vivienne Masterson with nett 76 and 71 (combined score of 147).
The winner of the Ladies’ Veterans’ Club Championship was Sally Balchin with a nett 68, followed by Lorna Hunt with nett 72 and Pat Martin with nett 78.
The trophies were presented by lady captain Serena Skinner.
