BOVEY Tracey AFC and Newton Abbot Spurs had South West Peninsula League Premier East fixtures scheduled for Saturday, 23, that were washed away by the storm.

Matt Hayden’s Bovey were set to visit Middlezoy Rovers at The Ethan Berry Pavilion whilst Spurs had a monumental home clash with fellow high-flyers Okehampton Argyle.

Pictured is a heavily waterlogged Mill Marsh Park and although Bovey weren’t scheduled to be at home, this is just a taste of the havoc that torrential rain wreaked on local football everywhere. Not a single SWPL game went ahead.

Middlezoy are two places and five points worse off than Hayden’s side so they would have fancied their chances of a victory on the road, although the Somerset-based side do have two games in hand on them.

A local clash comes next for the Moorlanders weather permitting, as another third of the Mid-Devon contingent visit Mill Marsh in the form of Teignmouth AFC.

Teignmouth are still in the midst of major works going on and so the fixture has been shifted to take place in Bovey’s backyard.

This fascinating fixture will take place at 19:30 on the evening of Friday, November 29 and the other late-night SWPL game involves Newton Spurs.

Spurs versus Oke Argyle was sure to be a great game but instead, the attentions of Marc Revell shift to a visit to Elburton Villa.

Villa finished just two points behind Spurs last season in an extremely tight campaign and they remain nearby this time around, sitting in sixth with a record of 8-2-3.

Two places and five points ahead of Elburton are Revell’s men and every point counts in this nail-biting title race. The game for those associated with Spurs to keep an eye on Saturday sees second-placed Cullompton Rangers host third-placed Okehampton Argyle at Speeds Meadow.
