NEWTON Abbot Spurs made it two wins from two when they made the trip to face Elburton Villa.

After hitting Bovey Tracey for four on the opening night of the season at The Rec, Spurs had a first away game to look forward to in the South West Peninsula League East Division.

The message from manager Marc Revell was for his players “to remain patient” with the games goalless at the break.

“Not many teams win at Elburton” and yet he felt his side were “fairly dominant”. It was the visitors who opened the scoring through Toby Pullman, a player who Revell believes “Doesn’t get recognized enough” and “deserves the limelight” at the club now for his efforts.

Villa “looked beaten at 1-0” and sure enough, Fin Pearse opened his account for the season to make it 2-0.

A late scare saw Elburton half the deficit but Spurs were able to hold on to the three points. “If I were to be hyper-critical, I don’t like how we concede goals” but his side “stuck to their guns” and reaped the rewards.
