IPPLEPEN Athletic were beaten 2-1 on home soil by Plymouth Marjon in the Devon Football League on Saturday, March 1.
The ‘Pens remain at the foot of the table and have a lot of work to do if they are to save but there are certainly positives that can be taken from a narrow defeat to the side in fourth.
1-1 was the score at the break but a second-half goal for Marjon earned them the three points to keep them ahead of Dartmouth and Appledore, who both also won.
At the other end, Ipplepen’s fellow strugglers Plymstock United lost 3-1 at home to Appledore whilst Bere Alston United were in League Cup action and were eliminated by Topsham Town.
Next up Ipplepen is a cup clash of their own as they play host to the aforementioned Alphington on Saturday 8- a strong run in this tournament could work wonders for confidence levels.
