TEIGNMOUTH closed in on their target of a sixth-place finish in the Peninsula League Premier East with a 3-1 win over Axminster Town on Saturday, writes Josh Goodman.
Three of the Teigns’ goal-scorers from the mid-week victory over Elmore found the net again on Saturday. Charlie Palmer put Teignmouth in front before Ash Donohue popped up with his customary goal. The hosts’ scoring was rounded off by Jack Baxter. Jamie Price grabbed a consolation goal for Axminster.
Teignmouth Head Coach Liam Jones said: ‘It was good. I thought we played well – and they’re a good side – but we were really good, and that was great to see because it is a tough period where a lot of clubs have nothing to play for, so for our lads to be on it and be motivated is a positive sign.
