NEW Bovey Tracey joint manager Liam Raybould has his eyes set on next season following his recent arrival at the Peninsula Premier East side.

The former Honiton and Cullompton boss has been brought in to work alongside Micky Hunt, with Liam Head taking a slight step back from the managerial side of things.

And despite some mixed results during his tenure so far, the 33-year-old already has ambitions which stretch beyond the current campaign.

‘It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster so far,’ said Raybould. ‘The results on the pitch have been a bit up and down.

‘I started the season at Honiton, which is a great club, but I just thought that coming down here would be a better opportunity.

‘Liam Head got in contact with me and it went from there – it turned into a bit of a no-brainer really.

‘I know it’s not quite gone the way we’d planned it initially but we’ve had injuries and unavailability. Hopefully we can just kick on now.

‘Micky and I are working on and off the pitch to get a good team together – making sure we give young lads a chance. Then it’s a case of progressing on towards next year.’

The Moorlanders are still playing in exile at Coach Road while the playing surface at Mill Marsh Park recovers from drainage work.

And as far as Raybould is concerned, getting back playing on home turf should prove to be an important moment in their season.

‘The sooner we can get back to Bovey the better,’ he revealed. ‘No disrespect to Devon FA – they’re fantastic facilities – but it’s not home, is it?

‘Once we’re actually back at Bovey it should be a lot better in terms of attracting players and the overall atmosphere.

‘There’s a big catchment area down here, which is one of the reasons I came. There are a lot of players who you can get.

‘Hopefully Micky and I can persuade them and we can just build this year for next year, really. That’s the project.

‘Micky and I are on the same page. He is a very good coach, whereas I’ve brought in a bit of a thick skin because I’ve had previous jobs at other clubs. It works well.’

Having shared the dugout with Raybould a few times now, Hunt added: ‘Liam has been first class. Obviously he’s got that experience from his time at Cullompton and Honiton, and he’s very vocal. He’s been brilliant.’

Following their midweek defeat away at Ottery St Mary, Bovey are set to travel to Cullompton in the Peninsula Premier East tomorrow (3pm).
