RYAN Bush netted a hat-trick to inspire Buckland Athletic to their latest Western Football League win.
The physical striker boasts a strong run of form in front of goal right now having also scored twice in normal time of the FA Vase victory over Callington Town, which ended with a penalty shootout.
Bush’s treble paired with a strike from Ryan Shanley made the difference upon Buckland’s visit to Somerset, beating Welton Rovers 4-1 away from home.
Dan Hart’s side have lost just once thus far this season and yet they are in fifth which speaks to just how competitive the division is. Buckland do have games in hand on all of those above them though and so the landscape could well shift further.
A mere five points separate current leaders Clevedon Town (27) and Ivybridge Town in ninth (22) with clubs having played anywhere between 10 and 13 games.
Athletic will be on the road once again with Street FC the destination this time around. Street visited Homers Heath at the beginning of September and on that day, Buckland let a two-goal and one-man advantage go to waste so they will be keen to strike back.
What makes the fixture all the more intriguing is the league positions- Street, another Somerset-based opponent, are one point ahead of Buckland in fourth but they have played three more games than their WFL counterparts.
Going away to The Tannery Ground and taking all three points would be a huge statement of intent from Hart and co.
