THIS Saturday isn’t just about the football for Buckland Athletic as they open their doors to all previous players, managers, supporters as well as the future of their club, to celebrate all things yellow in their first ever “Forever Yellow Day”.
As a thank you to those who have contributed to the success the club over the years and those that will continue to drive them forwards in years to come, they are offering free admission into their Jewson Western League game on Saturday, versus Brislington, if you arrive before 1:30pm, as an opportunity to come together once again and reminisce over the 48-year long club history.
They will also be showcasing the Premier League lunchtime kick-off fixture between Everton and Manchester United in their clubhouse from 12:30pm and England’s next Six Nations match against Scotland following the game.
Media Manager, Amy Alford added: "We often describe ourselves as a 'Buckland Athletic family', which can sound cliché. However, we are very fortunate to have many previous players, coaches and managers remain connected to the club in a multitude of capacities, even after their footballing days have come and gone.
"We often see ex-players bring their own children back to Buckland to become members of our 180-strong youth section whilst others continue to support the club through sponsorship or even just come back to take in a game on a Saturday afternoon.
"Forever Yellow Day has been designed to bring our wider footballing community together for an afternoon of celebrating the successes the club have made already in our history, as well as inviting our youth section and their families to The VX3 Stadium as we equally know the importance of the future generation of our club, too."
Fourth-placed Buckland will host 13th-placed Brislington FC in the Western League for a 3pm kick-off at Homers Heath on Saturday, February 22.
