INCLEMENT weather struck once again in the South West Peninsula League Premier East with only four fixtures going ahead on Saturday 25.

Teignmouth AFC and Newton Abbot Spurs both had their games postponed, set to take on Honiton Town and Axminster Town respectively.

The Rec was waterlogged for the latter and given their 4-1 victory there the week prior, Toby Pullman scoring all four goals, they would have fancied their chances of putting a struggling Axminster side to the sword.

Focusing on the games that did go ahead though and Bovey Tracey put on a great performance away from home, beating Okehampton Argyle 4-2 at Simmons Park.

Argyle have been one of the best teams in the division to date but have injury issues as well as the loss of key player Dan Koita to Tiverton Town to contend with, but take nothing away from Bovey, who are continuing to go from strength-to-strength under Matt Hayden.

After Okey took an early lead, Jamal Bokhommas heading home, only for Jack Brimming to respond with Bovey’s equaliser a minute or two later. Brimming then gave the visitors the lead before Luke Mortimore made it 2-2.

Second-half goals from the key duo of Lewis Perring and Neil Last earned the Moorlanders all three points, a seventh win of the season taking them further ahead of the likes of Honiton and Teignmouth in the standings.

Argyle drop to fourth because of another 4-2 away win, Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police leapfrogging them on goal difference thanks to their success at Torrington AFC.

The top two were also in action, facing each other, Cullompton Rangers closing the gap on Sidmouth Town with a 1-0 win plus Bridport FC won at Middlezoy Rovers.

On February 1, Spurs and Bovey head to Bishops Lydeard and Sidmouth respectively whilst Teignmouth have no game scheduled.
