Ellen Freeborn ‘was over the moon’ after winning a gold medal at the World Powerlifting Championships.

The 25-year-old, from Ingsdon, qualified after competing in a Global powerlifting committee qualifier, in Chester, back in May.

The championship took place in Knjazevac, Serbia, earlier this month, and Freeborn was the winner of the women’s raw (unequipped) under 60kg bodyweight category.

In the bench press, deadlift and backsquat for which she secured a total weight of 332.5k.
