MID Devon Cycling Club proudly hosted the Ken Robinson Time Trial along the scenic Team Valley, showcasing a diverse group of participants.

Riders from Okehampton Cycling Club and Torbay Tri Club joined MDCC members, with several tackling a time trial for the first time, adding to the event's excitement.

Despite the wet roads, the absence of wind created excellent conditions for this time of year. The Boxing Day 10 is a traditional event, with many clubs across the UK hosting similar competitions.

Each rider started at one-minute intervals, and notable results included Liz Cook, who has been competing in many time trials across the Southwest in her first year of competitive racing with Mid Devon, finishing with a time of 34:55.

In addition, Tom Bleloch, racing for the first time at the age of 12, clocked a time of 33:44. Benjamin Simcock also competed in his first-ever time trial with a time of 33:04. Meryn Kiching finished third overall with an impressive time of 26:33, capping off an outstanding season.

Neil Castree, a rider from Torbay Tri Club and a local supporter of the club time trials, finished with a time of 26:11. The first-place winner was 15-year-old Mid Devon rider Bayley Woodger, who earned his second win in just two events after recovering from an injury earlier in the season.

Full results: 1st Bayley Woodger, 2nd Neil Castree, 3rd Meryn Kitching, 4th Kevin Weymouth, 5th Stuart Luxton, 6th Caio Waters, 7th Stewart Dunn, 8th Pete Haywood, 9th Juliet Elliott, 10th Benjamin Simcock, 11th Laraine Gibbins, 12th Tom Bleloch, 13th Liz Cook and 14th Emily Simcock.

Mid Devon Cycling Club have many events planned for 2025 but have transformed the Dartmoor Classic cycle, igniting a wave of enthusiasm with nearly 950 riders signing up within just a week of entries opening. This surge signals a promising return to the remarkable number of participants in the event's golden years.

On June 22, 2025, Newton Abbot Racecourse will host an inspiring gathering of cyclists, united by their love for the sport. With new routes for the Grande, Medio, and Piccolo rides, including the exhilarating ascent of the iconic Haytor climb and a challenging closed-road Hill Climb Challenge near the ancient village of Grimspound, this event is set to inspire adventure.

Moreover, the introduction of a "Pixies Re-Volt" segment specifically for E-bike riders invites even more participants to join the movement, a minimum age of 14 for a 45 mile/73km cycle.

This is the same distance as the Piccolo’s “Pixies Revenge”, that event being for those 11 or older.

The Medio’s “Mist & Myths” stands at 66 miles/ 107km and is for ages 12+ whilst the Grande’s “Granite & Ghosts” covers 107 miles/173km, for those 15 and older.

With a free Classic jersey for all, £10 off the entry fee for cycle club members, and free entry for those who raise over £200 for chosen charities, this event not only promotes cycling but also fosters community spirit. With Dartmoor Search & Rescue Ashburton, Devon Air Ambulance, and Dartmoor National Park as the designated charities, participants can make a meaningful impact while pursuing their passion.
