CHUDLEIGH won for the first time this season in the B Division when they saw off Ipplepen by 30 runs at Kate Brook.

Chudleigh players have been resigned to relegation since the halfway stage of the season and that fate will be confirmed after this Saturday’s round of fixtures.

What no one at Kate Brook wanted was the ignominy of a winless season, so beating Ipplepen was a mission accomplished.

Matt Heather, the Chudleigh captain, said: “It was great to finally get a win under our belts.

“There wasn't a particular stand-out player as there were significant contributions for everyone on the day.

“It was a proper team effort, which was great to see, and a big shout out to James Grant for taking the gloves and helping himself to a quick stumping.”

Chudleigh chose to bat first, put up 217 and then Ipplepen could only muster 187 in response.
