IPPLEPEN defeated Clyst St George by six wickets to push the Bohea Field side deeper into the B Division relegation mire.

Defeat leaves Clyst 17 points away from safety with four games left to get out of the bottom two.

Half-centuries from skipper Dan Kendall (65) and in-form overseas player Morgan Potgieter (52) formed the nucleus of Clyst’s total of 229 for seven. They put on 116 for the second wicket.

Freddie Creer (25) and Ewan Cragg (20) helped the Clyst score along.

Pens’ spinners Ashley Harvey (2-31) and Noah Rider (2-44) kept CSG quiet during their spells.

Marcus Gadie (44) and Mawgan Penrice (53) earned Pens 66-run star that was built on by a stand of 78 for the second wicket between Penrice and captain Matt Beasant.

Reuben Stanley (29no) and Rider (46) took Ipplepen most of the rest of the way.

Nathan Wells (1-24) Pens little to get after during his nine overs.
