ABBOTSKERSWELL 2nd XI’s late dash for survival in the D Division West continued with a six-wicket victory over relegation cousins Barton 2nd XI.
Abbots (134pts) still have to get past Barton (144) and Dartington & Totnes (149) to reach safety. It is a tall order, but doable if Hatherleigh 2nd XI and Ipplepen can be beaten in the last two games.
Plymstock 2nd XI’ meanwhile, have seen their lead at the top of that table slashed to a single point after a second successive defeat, this time at the hands of Ipplepen 2nd XI.
With two games left to play it looks like a grandstand finish is on the cards with Plymstock (237pts), Kenn (236), Plymouth CS&R (231), Ipplepen (224) and Babbacombe (222) all in the running for one or the other of the promotion places.
Ipplepen got as far as 142 all out with skipper Adam Peters holding the innings together with 52. Before Plymstock spluttered along and quickly folded to 94 all out.
