SIMON Bunday of Haldon Trail Runners took part in the Sid Valley Ring half marathon on Saturday.

Around 100 runners took on this tough but scenic route on the East Devon coast. Starting and finishing in Sidmouth, runners were treated to sunshine and hills – with the first three miles uphill.

This very scenic route had more than 2,100 feet of elevation, with stunning coastal views and a bit of mud and water thrown in to test the runners.

Simon completed the race in 2:46:58 to come home in 51st place.

Meanwhile, entries are open for the Forest Flyer race being organised by the club in the summer.

The popular five-mile multi-terrain race takes place in Haldon Forest Park on Saturday, July 27, starting at 6pm and taking in some of the main forest tracks, paths and fire roads at the Forestry England site. Entires can be completed on SiEntries.co.uk.
