WHILST the men’s A-Team at Newton Abbot Bowls Club won a first title in 39 years, a battle against relegation was on the cards for the B-Team.
They held an advantage over Totnes heading into the final fixture though and an 8-6 win at home secured their safety.
The Men's C-Team finished with an impressive 12-2 away win at Marldon, for a comfortable league finish and the SDL Ladies were beaten 10-0 at Kings A but could still finish second.
Meanwhile, a recent visit from Blackwood, a Welsh touring Team, was an enjoyable game and in fact was won by Newton Abbot by just one shot!
116-115 was the score and 3 days later, Newton welcomed another touring team, Writtle, from Essex and once again came out on top, but by a few more shots.
All support for the seven games against tourists in September would be greatly appreciated, plus there will be a Devon President’s clash on the Newton Abbot green, featuring three of their own members.
