A BOWLS Wiltshire Ladies' team on tour down this neck of the woods played against Newton Abbot Bowling Club's ladies and rinks from Bitton Park and Chudleigh, writes Dave Pickett.

The game resulted in a win for the touring ladies.

Newton Abbot will be having an open day tomorrow, Saturday, April 29, which gives those who have never played the game before an opportunity to try out the sport. Of course, there may be people who have not bowled for a little while that may be wanting to get back into playing again.

The club will have several members available throughout the day to guide those through who are new to the game and bowls will be provided. All that is required is people wear flat-soled shoes or trainers on the green.

The day will start at 10am, running through to 2pm. Tea and coffee will be available and the bar for those who would like something a little bit stronger.

The club is situated in Courtenay Park opposite the railway station.
