THIS was another week with plenty of action for the Bovey Tracey bowls players.

In the Ladies South Devon League at Paignton A, Bovey lost by two rinks to one and by 46 shots to 62. D Simpson, Y Stanford, K Callard 8-22; J Ellis, S Breame, H Call 24-15; D Bailey, J Ridgewell, S Johnson 13-25. League points, Paignton A 8 - Bovey Tracey 2.

A home match against Torbay Country Club B in the same competition resulted in a win for the visitors by two rinks to one and by 37 shots to 50. S Breame, C Towle, K Callard 15-12; K Eldergill, D Simpson, H Call 11-19; D Bailey, J Ridgewell, S Johnson 11-19. League points, Bovey Tracey 2 - Torbay C/C B 8.

Staying with the ladies, in the 4-3-2-1 competition against Torquay Belgrave, Bovey lost the rinks game but won the other three events. The overall scores were Bovey Tracey 80 shots to Torquay Belgrave's 71. Rinks - K Eldergill, Y Stanford, C Towle, K Callard 9-34; Triples - D Bailey, J Ridgewell, S Johnson 18-14; Doubles - S Breame & D Simpson 28-16; Singles - H Call 25-7.

The Men’s Over 55s home match against Dawlish Marina produced a good performance from the Bovey team who won well on both rinks. J Richards, C Shorland, D Saunders 21-10; L Fullbrook, D Anderson, R Bailey 20-4. League points, Bovey Tracey 8 - Dawlish Marina 0.

There were two mixed friendlies, both of which resulted in wins for the opposition but in very different circumstances. At Abbrook Park, Bovey were well beaten on all four rinks by an overall score of 109 shots to 37. At home against Ottery St Mary, the rinks were shared two each with the visitors just shading it overall by 71 shots to 69.

Unbadged singles - Sarah Breame 21-14 Jane Slater (Chudleigh). Over 60s singles - Kenny Breame 6-21 Dave Woods.

In the Burma Star mixed triples - Chris Towle, Les Hignett & Heidi Call beat Ian, Simon & Pat (Chudleigh) 24-6. This resulted in Chris, Les and Heidi meeting Deborah & Roger Bailey and Deb Simpson in an all-Bovey match which they won 21-11.
